Neurodivergent Relationships

Why does something

we want so badly

feel so difficult?

Love, sex, and relationships don’t have to feel chaotic, overwhelming, or even impossible for those of us who are neurodivergent.

In fact, they can feel…

Quiet.

Secure.

Right.

One of the hardest parts of being neurodivergent, whether that’s ADHD, autism, C-PTSD, or something else, is feeling. Not just identifying emotions or understanding why we feel the way we do, but actually having the internal experience in our bodies. Neurodivergent people are incredibly smart, empathetic, and introspective, but we may also struggle with asserting our needs, being present in our bodies, and showing up for others in ways that make them feel loved.

I am no stranger to this as someone with ADHD. I only received my diagnosis as an adult, as many women do, which left me wondering if experiences I had in past relationships were the result of me not understanding my own needs.

Being neurodivergent can have a significant impact on our experiences with sex.

Redefining Sex

Being neurodivergent can have a significant impact on our experiences with sex. Whether our minds are always disconnecting from the present, our bodies are sensitive and easily overstimulated by touch, or negative past encounters dissuade us from engaging in it again, sex can feel like an obligation or performance rather than the fun and fulfilling experience we were sold on.

The exciting news is you can have mind-blowing sex as a neurodivergent person. You may just not know what that looks like for you…yet!

Working with me will mean discovering or delving deeper into your desires and needs and developing a healthy and present relationship with your body.

Navigating Relationships

Whether your partner(s) is neurotypical or also neurodivergent, you might have communication mishaps, misinterpret unspoken signals, or struggle with emotional regulation. Relationships come with so many unspoken rules and expectations. Without a structure to examine these arbitrary rules, we find it hard to evaluate what needs adjusting in order to shift our relationships from functional to fulfilling.

When you work with me, we will explore your needs, boundaries, and capacity in a way you may have never considered them before. We’ll also work on concrete skills related to communication and emotional regulation to set you up for relationship success!
